Coronavirus fear amid Bengalureans is affecting the business of pubs and restaurants in the city.

Bengaluru:Restaurant and pub owners in the city say that their businesses have gone down in due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. Restaurants like Eat Fit, Bheema’s, and pubs like Amoeba are among the ones affected.
Ankita. N regularly eats at restaurants. She says, “I will be eating less outside food, now that coronavirus has started spreading in Bengaluru.”
Eat fit suffered a loss of 5- 10 percent since the outbreak while Amoeba’s manager says that they have been suffering a loss of Rs. 30,000- 40,000 daily. Bheema’s—another restaurant in the city said that they used to earn Rs. 80,000 to 90,000, but now they are earning only Rs. 40,000 to 50,000.
Mall developers and eatery owners are also among the many bearing the brunt of the epidemic.
Mrityunjay Roy, the manager of Mainland China says, “The footfall dropped by around 20 per cent. People are scared to come out. They are generally avoiding gatherings and crowds in social functions and malls.”
In Karnataka, four positive cases and five suspected cases of COVID-19 have been reported. Whereas in India, the total number of positive cases has reached 56.
The global death toll from the epidemic breached the 4,000 mark on March 10, and the outbreak has spread over to around 100 countries, with more than 1,10,000 cases of infection.
