Increase In Gas Cylinder Blast Cases In The City

There has been a drastic increase in gas cylinder blast cases which is leading to burning and  deaths, says our reporter Chaitra BS 

There have been six cylinder blasts in the past four days in Bangalore, amidst an increase in cylinder blasts, raising concerns amongst citizens.

“We had no clue what had happened. The gas cylinder blast burnt nine people including my brother. Five are discharged three more are left including my brother,” says the victim’s brother, Ramesh.

The suppliers say that the main reason for the increase in blasts is because of the negligence by people. Victoria Hospital has recorded 641 cases of gas leakages in 2017 and has recorded 49 cases in February. Indane, gas agency says, “Most of the people in the city do not switch off the gas cylinder after they are done with their work. They can use safety valve to control issues like gas leakage.”

Recently, there have been situations where a cylinder blast has caused a fire to break out. Nine people and four children were injured in Peenya, Dasarahailli and 10 in Arfadh Nagar. Most of the people that come in with gas leakage burn are 75 per cent burnt.

Recently, a child died because of burns caused by a gas leakage. Mr Bakash, the victim’s brother says, “My brother worked in the small factory and had no clue about the building catching fire after the cylinder blast.”

The fire department stated that if a situation like this arises, then they will take charge and reach the spot as soon as possible and bring the situation under control.
