BMRCL has revealed plans to build metro art centers

BMRCL plans new metro art centres to attract tourists in the city.

Bangalore, January 23, 2018: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation limited (BMRCL) plans to create a new Metro Art Centre at the Cubbon Park Metro Station. “We are currently working on Indiranagar and Cubbon Park Metro Stations .We have more art centres lined up for stations like Jayanagar,Baiyapanahalli. By end of this year, the work will be complete”, said the BMRCL Chief Engineer A S Shankar.

The BMRCL Chief Engineer said that work is going on in Indiranagar and Cubbon Park Metro Stations. They also plan on building art centres in stations like Jayangar and Baiyapanahalli.
“We are really happy with the public response that the Rangoli Art Metro Centre at MG Road has got and now we are planning to build art centres in five more metro stations, “ said BMRCL’s  Chief Public Relations Officer U A Vasanth Rao.
The CPRO added that tenders for these art centres will be released by February.  He said, “We are expanding the already existing underground art show by students of Srishti Institute by theatre shows and more art galleries by students from all over the city.”

Mr. Balaji Margonda, curator of the Balaji Art Centre in MG Road said about 1000 people come here every day to watch theatre performances, to build sculptures, to show their artistic talent.He added that this has become a wonderful place and  we get a significant number of foreign tourists.

“ We want our art centre to grow more and gain more public attention than before,” he added.
Trisha, a student tells, “As I am very new to this city so does not know much about it but when some of my Bangalore friends told me about this recreational place and when I went there, it was an amazing experience.”
Rajeshwari, a daily commuter said, “I am not a frequent visitor to this place but whenever I come here I feel my city has such beautiful culture.”

Ms Surekha, art curator and a graduate from Shantiniketan, who worked for BMRCL till 2015, said “Because of this metro art centre commuters are increasing a lot especially on weekends and many more metro centres are going to have such work in future.”
