Despite the lockdown imposed in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of H D Kumaraswamy, former Chief Minister of Karnataka, tied a knot with Revathi—grand-niece of M Krishnappa, former Congress Minister of Housing, today.
The wedding ceremony took place in a private function at their farmhouse in Ketaganahalli with limited guests.
About 70 guests were present in the function who were to strictly follow social distancing rules.
This luxurious wedding was organized with the permission of the State Government and the support of the Police department.
Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had permitted for a closed-door wedding with limited 100 guests on March 22.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s wedding was conducted on the same condition. Personal security was arranged inside and outside the venue for the safety of the guests and to avoid the crowd.
P S Kumar, Police Sub-Inspector of Bidadi Rural Jurisdiction said, “We have blocked the highways connecting Ramnagar and Bidadi to prevent the people from entering the farmhouse due to the lockdown. Permission has been given to only 48 cars to enter the venue. We are in charge of the external security of the village and other jurisdictions. Internal security is completely maintained by the family.”
Use of mobile phones or sharing of images on social media was not allowed in the wedding.
However, a few pictures circulating in the social media show that despite the safety instructions, social distancing was not maintained in the wedding. The guests were seen without masks.
I have sought a report from Ramnagar Deputy Commissioner. I will speak to the Superintendent of Police, we need to take action otherwise it will be a complete mockery of the system: CN Ashwathnarayan, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister https://t.co/N8OVxxq3Gt pic.twitter.com/WGl8ZLATZw
