Two months not enough to issue Voter IDs, applicants may have to wait more

Bangalore, April 13,2018: Aspiring voters have not been issued a voters ID even two months after waiting.

Jinendra Jain, an applicant said, “I had applied for my card around 3-4 months back. I have still not received it.  When I tried to reapply they said I cannot do so because I’ have already applied before”

Vinod Kumar, an officer from the Election Commission said, “”The ideal waiting time is around 7-8 days after which the card is issued. The application is reviewed and checked if all the details are available or not. This is done at the Booth level office. If there is a complaint registered, we take immediate actions”

The joint Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, KN Ramesh said, “The final list with the details will be out on the 24th”. First time voters were however excited about voting, Sandhya Bhat, a first time password said, ” This is my first time voting, I’m really excited. I’ve heard a lot about EVMs and ballot papers.”
