EVM’s not working at polling booths

The polling for second phase of Lok Sabha 2019 elections started in 14 constituencies of Karnataka. At some of the polling booths, the EVM’s stopped working.

Two EVMs stopped working at Shree Rajarajeshwari Vidyashala polling booth in Rajarajeshwari constituency.

Srinidhi S, a voter, said, “I am a first time voter and I came here to vote. I was waiting in the queue for a long time and I got to know that the EVM is not working now. I have to go back home and come again in a while.”

Pramila Baliga, another voter, said: “We had to wait for an hour because the EVMs were not working. Some people even left after waiting for an hour in the queue.”

The booth level officer, Shivamurthy said, “There is some technical issue and two EVMs are not working as of now. We tried to fix it but we could not fix it.”

Another EVM at Pulakeshinagar constituency stopped working. Mohammed Farooq, a gazetted officer, said, “We had a problem with the EVM in the morning. It stopped working but after a while, we were able to resolve the problem.”
