J&K floods: PM Modi offers Centre’s help to Mufti

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and  offered all possible support  to deal with the flood situation in the valley, today.
"Spoke to J&K CM @MehboobaMufti on the flood situation in the state. Offered all possible support from Centre in dealing with the situation," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

Meanwhile, as the rainfall has stopped since last night the water level in Jhelum has receded

Flood-like situation in Jammu

The situation yesterday created a panic as flood was declared in Jammu after river Jhelum crossed the danger mark of 21-ft at Sangam, South Kashmir and  Ram Munshibagh, Sringar, crossed the 20.20 ft mark.

The ‘flood declaration mark’ stands at 13-ft mark in North Kashmir, and at 21-ft at Sangam in South Kashmir. Emergency control rooms were setup and over 17 people were rescue from flash floods in Poonch. Troops from the Rashtriya Rifles battalion rescued residents from certain areas in Panzipora, as they were flooded with panic calls, in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.


According to reports, the water level in tributaries like Veishov, Rambiara and Lidder streams has receded substantially in the past six hours.

The 2014 floods in Kashmir had swamped most of the residential areas, including in Srinagar.
